Move Up Sunday is August 19
Move Up Sunday is when all children and youth graduate to their new Sunday school grades for the 2018 – 2019 school year. Children and Youth Sunday School begins at 9:30AM.
Third Graders Receive Bibles on August 19
On Sunday, August 19, all third graders will be presented with their very own Bible in all four worship services. This is a tradition in the Methodist church, and you don’t have to register or sign up. Just come to worship, and third graders can come to the front when called. For this entire school year, the third graders will learn to use their Bibles during Sunday School at 9:30AM each Sunday. Hope to see all Third graders on August 19!
Acolyte Training is Sunday, August 26
An acolyte is a fourth or fifth grader who assists with worship by lighting and extinguishing the candles on the altar at the beginning and end of the service. Before signing up for a Sunday, acolytes must attend training on Sunday, August 26, during their regular Sunday School time. If you’re unable to make it, there will be a makeup in September. Once you’ve completed training, you may sign up online.
Teach Children’s Sunday School
No experience is needed, just a love of children and the desire to help them grow in their faith journey. Our goal is to have a teaching team of eight volunteers for each class, which makes the schedule more manageable and enjoyable. If you are interested in being the lead teacher for your group, please let Brandy Reimers know. You must be certified through Safe Gatherings, a 3-step process you can begin at www.riotexas.org/safe. Contact Brandy Reimers, Assistant Director of Children’s Ministry, for more information.
