Almost sixty-nine years ago, more than one hundred people worshipped together for the first time as Tarrytown Methodist Church.
They sat in steel folding chairs delivered that morning just before the service started. The building they worshipped in had been assembled and painted in a single day by a team of volunteer carpenters, electricians, and painters. According to Rev. Vernon Perry, these men from the Austin community freely gave their time and labor because they had a vision that their families, their neighbors, and their city would be blessed by rendering this service to a new church community.
On Saturday, September 12, you’re invited to celebrate that sixty-nine year old vision and its accompanying gifts of service.
Come and learn about all of the amazing ways your church is joining God’s work of serving our neighbors far and near. Pick a service project or two to support with your time and energy. Meet others who share your passion for service and discover new ways to engage with your church and neighbors.
- The Celebration starts at 9:00am with a breakfast taco breakfast.
- Check-in at the Fellowship Hall.
- Come and go as you are able throughout the day between 9:00am and 3:00pm.
- Pick a service project you want to work with or learn more about.
- Eat some cake and ice cream!
