Justice for Our Neighbors is one of few agencies in Austin focused on unaccompanied minors and removal defense and has won asylum for twelve people this year alone.
Austin Region Justice for Our Neighbors (JFON), a non-profit law office, welcomes refugees and immigrants into our communities by providing free, high-quality immigration legal services, education, and advocacy. JFON is a United Methodist immigration ministry, with 19 current branches across the US—including one right here in Austin, Texas. Our local JFON chapter was founded in 2014 with board leadership from TUMC.

9:30–10:30AM in Fellowship Hall
Join us for a special presentation from JFON, on Sunday, October 14, 2018 from 9:30-10:30AM in the Fellowship Hall. Our guest speakers include Zaineb Alyassri, a current JFON board member and former client who successfully won asylum because of JFON, and Jacky Maroney, a TUMC member and founding JFON board member who practices employment immigration law. They will share JFON’s mission and help TUMC learn how we can offer this radical hospitality to more of our most vulnerable neighbors.
At its heart, JFON’s work reminds us that those who come to us as strangers, Jesus sees as neighbors. Individuals and Sunday school classes are welcomed to join the Missions committee for this special time of learning.
