Beginning with Palm Sunday, we spend holy week exploring the depth, meaning, and perspective of what God has done for the world through Jesus. The core of the week continues with the three-act unfolding of Easter. Act One is Maundy Thursday. Act Two is Good Friday. Act Three is the Easter morning.
The days leading to Easter are the most sacred time of the Christian year. It is a Holy Week, indeed.
This unfolding is Christ’s journey, and our Christian journey is enhanced, if not transformed, by following his footsteps day by holy day. Experiencing the entire week puts us on a common path and gives us a shared experience. Woven together through worship, we bring ourselves to Sunday and throw open the doors of hospitality to all who come to sing in Easter joy. As a community of Christians, we are made ready for Resurrection by taking the journey through the cross.
“Holy Jesus: you have promised that in life, and in death, and in life beyond death, we belong to you. As we meditate on your suffering, we are moved by your love; as we watch your dying, we are filled with love for you. Deeply, gratefully, we receive your saving sacrifice and pray your transforming grace now work its way in us. Amen.”
It is good to be together.
